2NE1; The IT Girls of the 21st Century
At Stylenoir Magazine we featured two articles on K-Pop sensations 2NE1 last week, namely due to my personal adoration for the girls.
In short, this resulted in a worldwide frenzy. The statements we already made in our 2NE1 London article were overhyped, of course, but that’s what press does when it gets excited. Once more the girls truly deserve that praise, and here’s why…
If we look at the planet’s two main superstars of our generation we get Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. Whether you love or loathe them there is no denying they dwarf any other musician. Just look at the Google search stats.
The reason they both have had unprecedented success is they both are incredible marketers.
Take a look at the table below, this shows the global monthly searches for Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and 2NE1. The 2NE1 girls have an 11% search volume of Lady Gaga. Now take into account 2NE1 haven’t even had a world tour yet [Gaga has had Three already and played 201 worldwide shows] and this completely proves our point.
2NE1 will be no different, they will have unparalleled success, in time. They have substance, they have aesthetic, they have every single point you need locked down, and they are becoming some of the best marketers in the industry.
Point in case. Our last article. Now indexed on over 50 fansites, 100s of comments in forums, and now picked up by the Korean media. From one 200 word article. That’s more than impressive.
It shows that 2NE1 fans are some of the most incredible, dedicated and loyal fans in the world, it shows that 2NE1 fans truly care about Bom, CL, Dara and Minzy.
In the SeoulBeats article 2NE1 and Stylenoir a match made in heaven? Antonia writes
“Whether the magazine will give the girls exposure if they do their next photoshoot in pigtails and pastels remains to be seen.”
The answer to this question is an undeniable, unquestionable, yes. The reason being is that individuality and creativity does not come from how outlandish or on the boundary line you are, but more how much you express yourself. 2NE1 have already shown how much they can express themselves across aesthetics and that is what we love. Whether it be rainbows and unicorns, or studded, spiked oozing blackness.

nomidia says: Thank you for lighthing up some people !! those girls are incredible their fashion their music and most of all their personnalities ( guys u can take a look on 2NE1TV season 1,2,3 it’s a reality show about them) I still remember the fist day I listened by accident to their song “Clap ur hands” on youtube in 2010 I really injoy it and since then i’m now one of their fan !! if some1 is not famous in amirecan media that doesn’t mean he’s not famous outside his country !! bleive me guys those girls have a strong international fandom more strong than their korean one !!(France , CANADA , USA , Brasil til Morocco , kawait , UAE , Arabie saudite …etc)
