Alexander McQueen It’s only a game; Savage Beauty
We decided to continue our Savage Beauty articles, after this seasons fashion weeks. We saw so much beauty and originality, but so much had been done before, by the great Alexander McQueen himself. So here is to a true original, a true icon.. a Savage Beauty.
This piece entitled “It’s only a game” is from Spring Summer 2005. Both the shoulder pads and helmet are fibreglass painted with acrylics.
McQueen was inspired by the game of chess, influenced by the fact there was six women, and represented each of these in a different way.
A simply incredible take on athleticism, female empowerment and sport. As if we needed any more reason to call the late Alexander McQueen the godfather of fashion.
