A metamorphosing creature. In a time where both strength and fragility are open for the world to see, the darkness resumes…

We’ve been so focused on the fact that Resident Evil: Retribution is launching later this year, that we completely missed the fact that Underworld Awakening launched in the United Kingdom yesterday. The Underworld trilogy has not only been a creative masterpiece so far, but a colossal inspiration to Stylenoir, with past work and concepts twisted from elements of the first three movies.

I cannot even stress how important this movie is, it’s a point where everything can change. Leaving a trilogy which had massive appreciation would have been so easy, creating a fourth movie, one that humans now fight vampires must have been colossally difficult, and that can only mean one thing; it was worth doing.

The trailer and pre-photos look absolutely beautiful, the tone and cinematography that was so magnificent in the first three movies hasn’t changed at all.

In an impressive collection that echoed London’s spirit and passion, Louise Gray created one of our absolute favourite shows of the season. Gray always delivers, and this time for AW12 Louise Gray had us lusting after every single piece.

It’s hard to miss that the makeup and hair for the show was simply unprecedented, an outstanding fusion of not only talent but creativity that complimented Louise’s creations perfectly.

It really is shows and collections like this that project what London is about to those in New York and Paris, and why London still has colossal appeal to those cities. It’s a show like this, that puts London on the map.

We feel the word show is being lost, the clue is in the title “Fashion Show”, it should be a celebration, a toast, to what has been created, to the hard work that really defines the movements each season.

Diesel seemed to understand this, putting their show off-site allowed for some incredible production values, from glowing neon gateways, and an interlude that flooded the runway with fog and rumbling bass, which definitely denoted Diesel’s statement for the show “Fear is Fun”

The juxtaposition, of soft and tough textures was also a highlight for us.

The level of concept and wearability was perfect. A concise and forward collection, we’re already lusting over some of the pieces, and will be following Diesel closely for time to come.

Whilst we have been an advocate for Dimepiece for a couple of seasons now, this collection entitled “The Drug and the Dream” is by far our favourite, every element seems to come together in a celebration of fashion and individuality.

Corrie Nielsen is an artist, an unprecedented talent that is second to none. Her ability to both have the vision and concept of an exceptional artist and the technical skill and ability of a truly iconic designer.

I personally always preach about substance behind design and art. There has to be meaning, there has to be solid emotion and passion built from a strong intent of purpose. Ideal is always so much stronger than aesthetic. A look, an aesthetic comes from an ideal, a strong point of origin, that cannot be replicated.

There is nowhere that this is shown more prominently than in Corrie Nielsen’s Autumn Winter 2012 collection. The basis and origin of the collection is nothing but extraordinary, the depth and understanding is incredible. The fact that she uncovered a manuscript to denote the ideals of this collection proves this fact more than ever.

Then we get onto the physical technique of the collection. If you see this up close, it is simply mind blowing. Corrie’s technical skill is phenomenal, her cuts, layers and stitching is all impeccable, the quality perfect.

It is such a rarity to have such an intellectual, creative being, with such an unparalleled talent. To have a creature that holds all three at such a heightened level is remarkable, and through this Corrie Nielson is truly iconic.

Quite frankly there is no one designer showing at London Fashion Week that even comes close to what Corrie Nielson can achieve, the greatest talent to come out of London since Alexander Mqueen, without doubt.
