Dark Victory: Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia July 2012 Cover
It is no surprise that Steven Meisel is one of our favourite photographers. While no where near as dark as Klein, he can deliver a more macabre side when prompted, as shown in his “Keepin it Surreal” photoshoot.
Meisel photographed the July cover for Vogue Italia, and while the summer months blaze, Vogue turned to the shadows of the underworld, producing an unquestionably dark work that has us enthralled and wanting more. A simply celestial, divine darkness.
Once again Meisel turns to Pat McGrath for the makeup work, a partnership that is now as strong as ever, both eternally complimenting each other’s work. Models that appear in the macabre photoshoot include Julia Nobis, Lida Fox, Mackenzie Drazan and Vanessa Axente.
