Goth by Steven Meisel

We’ve praised Steven Meisel before for his achingly dark works. The oozing noir of ‘keepin it surreal’, and the macabre of his Vogue Italia June cover and story are two artworks that we truly admire from this generation.
However, Steven Meisel may now have created our favourite image ever.
In a photograph entitled “Goth” which is part of the “Tribes” series, Meisel photographs Sasha pivovarova, the incredible Iselin Steiro Gemma Ward, Caroline Trentini, Agyness Deyn and none other than Lily Donaldson. Creating a beautifully romantic vision of death, darkness, and all things Gothic.
The makeup is simply remarkable, if Meisel had his way McGrath would be responsible. The aesthetic is simply incredible, a true vision of what Gothic should be, a new romantic edge to the divine style noir. With more leather, velvet and feathers than our own wardrobes the styling is simply gorgeous, and we’re happy to learn the God of Gothic Riccardo Tisci has his own Givenchy pieces present.
Perhaps our end goal should be to make the front lawn of our offices look like this photograph. A Gothic tribe known that death always wins.
