Jean Paul Gaultier Autumn Winter 2012 Couture

Jean Paul Gaultier showed his Autumn Winter 2012 couture collection this week in Paris.
The spectacle that this now iconic designer always creates during the Paris Couture Fashion Week is second to none, he is perhaps one of the last great designers left with us, and he never disappoints.
To our enjoyment the entire collection oozed noir. Reminiscent of the flapper era the whole collection payed homage to the 1920s and was almost entirely black. The sensual and sophisticated silhouette mirrored the beautiful detail and vision, completing this incredible look.
Andrej Pejic walked the catwalk yet again for Jean Paul Gaultier, we have talked before on how both Gaultier and Pejic are becoming very close within the industry, so it was no real surprise to see Pejic on the runway for couture 2012.
Whether he suited the aesthetic of the rest of the collection is another matter. Models such as Alana Zimmer and Milagros Schmoll seemed much more fitting for the casting, accentuating that sensual beauty of the 1920s.
Our favourite part of the collection was simply the fabrics, it really does showcase that you can do so much with black, from the leather jackets to the organza and velvet of the separates of the collection. The textures really created a special something to the entire collection that made you lust after every piece.
