Katie Gallagher was born in 1986 in the USA. She states as a youngster “I never wore shoes, and I hated wearing clothes”. Katie attended the Rhode Island school of design and interned for Anna Sui.
Katie has been featured in Vogue, Elle, and been named as one of “New York’s top designers” by Refinery 29.
Katie Gallagher’s signature aesthetic is one of empowerment and style noir aesthetic. Often edging towards dark, macabre visions but always creating remarkable, beautiful work.
Her first collection was entirely created in black, with Katie stating “Everyone I asked would say that it’s really scary to do that because people always want to see color, but I didn’t really care.”
Daphne Guinness and Nicola Formichetti are both supporters of the designer, regularly borrowing and sourcing Gallagher’s pieces for editorial and creative ideas.
“I don’t believe that fashion is the end goal; Stories, Personalities, Moods, Ideals and Attitudes are.”
