A Dedication to: Mother Of London
At Stylenoir we have wanted to feature Mother Of London and the designer Mildred Von for longer than we can remember. I personally have been addicted to her designs even before Stylenoir was born (yes such a time did exist!). We have had this article on ice for a while, because we wanted to celebrate the truly remarkable work Mildred does, without complications from anything else. In short, to give the recognition, the dedication and praise that she so rightly deserves, and now… the time is right.
Mother Of London‘s creations provoke the imagination, almost present a world in which they themselves can live in. Fashion has always been a way to create personas and exaggerate personalities. But with Mildred Von, the pieces seem to create their own space to control, just as a sound-scape would surround and envelop you, each piece, each design consumes the eye, stimulates and provokes emotion in the most beautiful way.
What Mother Of London creates, is nothing short of wearable art. The dedication, patience and detail to every single piece is just astronomical. We are certain there is simply no way anyone could compete with the talent this woman has, and if someone attempted to, they would be very foolish indeed.
Being featured in the likes of Italian Vogue, Numero and Another Magazine alongside support from figures such as Ulorin Vex (shown above) and Allan Amato is almost unnecessary proof, but proof none the less of just how colossal this woman’s talent really is.
The exceptional talent and high quality of Mother Of London continues from that unique and original aesthetic, to the specific materials used, from lambskin even to faux ostrich texturized leatherette. Every element is approached with the same no compromise attitude, it is that concise method that means Mildred Von has managed to truly achieve greatness.
There is absolutely no doubt that Mother Of London are inspiring and impacting a new generation. When we see others create a better aesthetic for their own world, to further themselves or even produce fashion & art and cite Mother Of London as a reference of influence or inspiration, it just proves that there really are some pioneers left in this world and Mildred Von is among the best of them.
