SN: We hear you are currently in Japan, how is the tour? Has there been anything which has really stood out? PS: It was so fun, I love Japan so much!! The best is there is so much cuteness around, little adorable cartoons everywhere, it's like being in a video game. Then juxtaposed next to that youhave the temples and people bowing to each other. I love the traditional with the kitsch. SN: Our favourite record has to be My Machine, how did the idea and concept arise for this? PS: That's awesome. I wanted to make a concept album, something that was like a musical, something different. I wanted to comment on pop culture without being too didactic and literal. It took me a really long time to make! SN: So if you really did have a duplicant to adhere to your every whim, what would you have them do? Answer my interviews! Ha Ha just kidding. SN: You’ve just recorded with the musical legend that is Grandmaster Flash, how was it? Was there anything that stood out about him you want to share? PS: Yes it was a dream come true. I couldn't imagine working with the man who wrote "white lines" - who is such a huge part of hip hop history. What I liked about working with him is that he is a perfectionist, like me. He kept making me do stuff over so I liked that. SN: The lyrics you produce cross cultural boundaries and seem to slice into societies issues, with this in mind do you actively seek to make history and create tracks to really make people think? PS: That is exactly what i hope to achieve. To not only think but to make themselves and the world a better place. and to have lots and lots of fun doing it! SN: Some of your costumes in album artwork and stage outfits have been phenomenal, from vinyl records covering your modesty to geisha styled makeup and more. Who would you say was your biggest fashion inspiration and why? PS: I don't have a fashion inspiration, I think about the music first and then dress accordingly. I also have to shout out Ned Ambler who is like my creative image director and major collaborator. [Editor] For those of you who don't know Ned Ambler, from casting shows such as Comme de Garcons, Diesel and Jil Sander in the 90s to photographing for Interview Magazine, Time Out and Paper let alone finding time to produce the album covers and more for Superstar - we know you'll love the work which can be found HERE SN: You have appeared in a PETA advertising campaign, what are you views on fur in the fashion industry? With brands such as ‘Matt & Nat’ making an alternative to leather is it easier to find clothing to match your vegan views in the 21st century? PS: I think it's great that more compassionate ways of dressing have made it into the mainstream. If people saw what they do to animals and cows to get fur and leather, i don't think people would use it anymore. it's really horrendous. it doesn't make sense to me that people can love animals and love their pets and then senselessly torture other animals for fashion? SN: You haven’t released a major record for a couple of years now, is there any plans to release one soon or are you currently enjoying the collaborations and the DJ circuit more? PS: Yes I am releasing my single The New Evolution in June. I can't wait! SN: Are there any other major plans for the future? PS: A New record, a new movement, a new cookbook! You'll see!
