Jean Paul Gaultier showed his Autumn Winter 2012 couture collection this week in Paris.
The spectacle that this now iconic designer always creates during the Paris Couture Fashion Week is second to none, he is perhaps one of the last great designers left with us, and he never disappoints.
To our enjoyment the entire collection oozed noir. Reminiscent of the flapper era the whole collection payed homage to the 1920s and was almost entirely black. The sensual and sophisticated silhouette mirrored the beautiful detail and vision, completing this incredible look.
Andrej Pejic walked the catwalk yet again for Jean Paul Gaultier, we have talked before on how both Gaultier and Pejic are becoming very close within the industry, so it was no real surprise to see Pejic on the runway for couture 2012.
Whether he suited the aesthetic of the rest … Read More »

So far in 2012 Stylenoir has hit half a million readers; broken a corner of the WWW with our antics with Zombie Boy; been hung on the wall in the London Mayor’s office; been repped by the New York Times and Microsoft… the list goes on. So we thought it was about time to start with a new journey, the Stylenoir Top 10 Creatives 2012. Each year we will look at who our readers most admired, looked at and read about, giving an official, definitive guide of the top 10 creatives chosen by Stylenoir readers.
So without further ado, here is the top ten, beginning with the winner.

With Andrej Pejic returning will full force to modeling, such as the recent Jean Paul Gaultier Beijing show and the ID Magazine Cover we managed to unearth some rare behind the scenes images of the incredible model.
On set with photographer Sebastien Micke, Andrej Pejic is quite obviously as relaxed as he is focused, seen going through wardrobe options with Micke and putting his energy into all the right paths.
There are critics that noted Andrej Pejic was dangerously close to becoming over exposed, so we are glad that a break took place, and now with Andrej back in business, we hope to see some really beautiful aesthetics created over the following months.

Andrej Pejic took to Beijing this month to walk in a catwalk show for the legendary Jean Paul Gaultier. Wearing a much more dramatic than Andrej Pejic is used to, however ever the showman, Pejic created some fantastic hype. Jean Paul Gaultier and Andrej Pejic are continuing what seems to be a blossoming relationship as Pejic is now one of Gaultiers most used models.
Andrej Pejic recently spoke out about his troubles in the modeling arena.
Having not seen much from him over the last month, we were wondering if things had become to get tough. Perhaps some truth lies with this as Andrej spoke with the New York Times.
Stating about androgynous and transgender models, Pejic said:
“This is usually a group of people that are not treated nicely by society. They are usually segregated and go thorough torment and it’s nice to sort of share these stories and open people’s minds.”
Andrej Pejic then went on to state: “Yeah I feel like people are typecast very easy,”
It’s no wonder he feels pidgeon-holed, the points we made in Gender Is Not Over seem very relevant here.
Last year the fashion industry took a primarily underground phenomenon and opened it up into a mainstream revolution. I am talking of course about the so called “Gender Revolution”, a topic that is very much en vogue today. Now more than ever Transgenderism is a buzz word but more than that it is an actuality swiftly moving away from a segregated part of society to very public one; the fashion industry.
The sudden visibility of transgender issues is hailed overwhelmingly as a positive fact but when gender blending finds a place in the pages of fashion magazines and in other mainstream media it begs the question; what is the humanitarian impact on real life “gender blenders”?
I have a Transgender friend who believes she does not need to heighten the pitch of her voice or wear hair down to her chest, as … Read More »
