Jean Paul Gaultier Autumn Winter 2012 Couture
9th July

Jean Paul Gaultier showed his Autumn Winter 2012 couture collection this week in Paris.
The spectacle that this now iconic designer always creates during the Paris Couture Fashion Week is second to none, he is perhaps one of the last great designers left with us, and he never disappoints.
To our enjoyment the entire collection oozed noir. Reminiscent of the flapper era the whole collection payed homage to the 1920s and was almost entirely black. The sensual and sophisticated silhouette mirrored the beautiful detail and vision, completing this incredible look.
Andrej Pejic walked the catwalk yet again for Jean Paul Gaultier, we have talked before on how both Gaultier and Pejic are becoming very close within the industry, so it was no real surprise to see Pejic on the runway for couture 2012.
Whether he suited the aesthetic of the rest … Read More »

Madonna MDNA Tour Costumes
2nd June
A first look at the costumes for Madonna’s forthcoming MDNA tour have been released. Designed by Jean Paul Gaultier, Jeremy Scott and even Madonna’s own label Truth or Dare.
The MDNA tour Costumes look as extravagant as usual, echoing Madonna’s sexual and powerful aesthetic.
Our personal favourite has to be the Joan of Arc inspired piece, not only because of the great woman that she was, but because we are soon to release our very own Joan of Arc influenced photoshoot.
Jean Paul Gaultier was chosen for his fantastic work once again, stating: “I love Madonna. She is the only woman I have asked to marry me. She refused, of course.”
The MDNA Tour is certainly starting to look like one incredible occasion. Yet again Madonna re-invents and re-emerges.
Andrej Pejic in Beijing for Jean Paul Gaultier
18th May
Andrej Pejic took to Beijing this month to walk in a catwalk show for the legendary Jean Paul Gaultier. Wearing a much more dramatic than Andrej Pejic is used to, however ever the showman, Pejic created some fantastic hype. Jean Paul Gaultier and Andrej Pejic are continuing what seems to be a blossoming relationship as Pejic is now one of Gaultiers most used models.

Jean Paul Gaultier AW12: Backstage Beauty
16th March
The Jean Paul Gaultier Autumn Winter 2012 collection was so strong, just one review simply would not do.
I was blown away by the hair and makeup team that created the fierce faces to compliment each strong piece that walked the runway. Makeup artist Stephane Marais referenced “glam women going out in the Eighties” when he created the beauty look backstage. A black liquid liner topped with dark grease paint was smoothed onto eyelids, and then using a small brush, Marais spread the color out, making it look as if it was worn overnight.
Hair was sprayed a few inches from the middle part down by Guido Palau for a grunge inspired feel. What I really loved were the diverse colors used when the clothing took a turn for the loud. Roots in copper and blue gave a pop that brought intensity, taking the … Read More »
Andrej Pejic for Jean Paul Gaultier Autumn Winter 12
14th March

The Jean Paul Gaultier Autumn Winter 12 show really caught Stylenoir’s attention at Paris Fashion week, but as usual, one certain creature had stolen the show once again.
Andrej Pejic walked the catwalk twice for Jean Paul Gaultier’s Autumn Winter 2012 collection, modeling as only Pejic knows best. While the first look was a classic all black silhouette, the second really stood out to us and really reflected what Andrej is about.
The individuality and aesthetic in Jean Paul Gaultier’s creation, suited Pejic perfectly. With those sumblime metallics it is already an outfit we’re lusting after.

Jean Paul Gaultier Autumn Winter 2012
14th March

This was definitely the show that blew all others out of the water at Paris Fashion week this season. While some argued that there were “no roots” to this collection, I strongly disagreed. There was a massive variety of looks, all were cohesive and beyond brilliant. The Velvet Underground and Nico were the perfect soundtrack to the 80′s punk inspired collection, transporting the audience to a rocker chic dream.
True to the line’s usual aesthetic, the mood was heavy with black, it’s gothic edge not forgotten in this extreme new direction of design. The show started off quiet, almost like a rumble in the distance signaling something bigger, something more frightening, something…. monumental. Although this made a few fans a bit uneasy, the grandeur of the collection was undeniable, always something for every woman. With every revolution, change must be made, and this new wave (pun … Read More »
Eve Salvail
23rd July
About Eve Salvail
Eve Salvail was born in Canada in 1973.
Eve Salvail is quite possibly our favourite model of all time. Whilst she may not have risen to true supermodel status, it is her attitude, individuality and unique beauty that really strike us.
Eve Salvail‘s beautiful refined, yet angular definition is simply divine. A sculpted temptress that provokes passion and desire, that grabs emotion and feeling.
It is that sculpted definition that not only gives her an intoxicating splendor, but one that seems to entice feeling. Without doubt her androgyny is also spellbinding, a true individual that has projected the epitome of emotion.
Her individuality was projected onto the world on a colossal scale in the early 1990s, when her signature shaved head and dragon tattoo caught the eye of Jean Paul Gaultier.
Shortly after he catapulted Eve Salvail onto the catwalk … Read More »
Jean Paul Gaultier; Androgynous Fairytales
11th June

You could say fashion is about fairytales. Imagination, splendor and dreams. Like sleeping beauty awoken by a Prince Charming. Well it simply doesn’t get any more magical than this. We relived the darkness of McQueen in 2007 recently, now we want to relive the magical fairy tale of Jean Paul Gaultier‘s Fall 2007 collection. Inspired by none other than Walt Disney and the fantastic fairy tales he created.
Jean Paul Gaultier is well known for his gender-bending signature, but it doesn’t come much better than this. With female “prince charming”s and majestic royalty, any fan of androgyny has to admire the incredible masculine silhouette that Jean Paul Gaultier has created.
Luxurious tailcoats, jodhpurs and knee high boots accentuated with military embroidery and sashes portray both the majestic and class of the collection in a traditionalist sense, replicating the traditional … Read More »
